To showcase our beautiful, user-friendly facility, S & H Products hosted an Open House on Thursday, December 11th, from noon until 6:00 p.m. Visitors learned about production services, community employment, the new habilitation services, recreation, and other elements of the program as they toured the facility.

A new “Friendship Club” was formed at S & H. As the name suggests, this social club helps people learn how to make friends, keep the friends they have and explore the places where they can make friends. Utilizing a “Circle of Support” (families, friends, neighbors, co-workers), individuals can develop their own independent recreational opportunities and become more “connected” to their community.
“Life Books” continue to be popular at S & H. These scrapbooks are created to help an individual plan for the future and advocate for themselves. Each page creates a positive picture of the person, records important events, organizes emergency and medical information, and encourages communication among the circle of support including family, friends and professionals.
Adult Basic Literary Education (ABLE) taught classes at S & H to help sharpen our employees’ math, reading, and computer skills and the Ohio State University Extension Office taught cooking classes to assist our employees in the planning and preparation of economical and nutritious meals.
S & H was awarded a $500 grant from the Founders Fund of the Community Foundation of Shelby County in response to our request for support of a proposed “Art Cupboard”. S & H will be purchasing a variety of new and different art media and supplies to assist individuals with sensory, perceptual, cognitive and physical disabilities.
